Let's Talk Skin Care

MY SKINCARE RANT:

I am 25 years old, and it has been a journey for the last 2 decades, of learning about skincare and learning from my mistakes. I've decided, I'm going to start focusing on skincare for those of us in our 20's, because while I see a LOT of posts and information for those in their 30's+, PREVENTION is better than BOTOX!

I have learned a LOT from Susan Yara on Mixed Makeup- Youtube. I highly recommend her to learn about your skin, regardless of your age!

STOP USING COCONUT OIL FOR EVERYTHING(Especially YOUR SKIN!)!

The large molecules clog your skin in ways that other oils do not. If you want more, use a proper moisturizer with hydrochloric acid, squalene, and other such. Oils,(RARELY used), should be on TOP of the moisturizer. Then Sunscreen on top of that.

AND STOP using PHYSICAL scrubs! OMG!

You are causing micro-tears, and micro-scarring, which is what causes your skin to look dull. Use Chemical exfoliants such as AHA's, Vitamin C, and Retinol for fighting the effects of aging.

STOP USING MakeUp WIPES/Cotton rounds..

a wet microfiber rag is so much more gentle. Rubbing, and pulling at your skin will make you age so much more quickly, and irritating your skin. Use an oil-based balm cleanser for the first wash, and follow up with a second wash using a chemical exfoliant. (Ideally, using a silicon head brush of some kind, such as the PMD Beauty Facial Massager PMD Clean Pro).

Invest in your skincare.

"Natural", is not always best.

"Vegan" does not mean the product is not harmful to you.

I love the "CLEAN" brand because clean is more important than "Vegan", but brands such as Indie Lee, VOLITION BEAUTY, REN Clean Skincare, and Farmacy are GREAT "CLEAN" brands.

We are in our 20+ guys, its time to get serious about your skincare.

Edit: this is not all-encompassing, and of course all skincare types are different. You may need to add more to make your routine work for you or replace my suggestions with products that work for you. The point is, to have a routine, stick to it, and be mindful of the ingredients and impact of ingredients, such as Silicone, Essential Oils, or Coconut Oil on your skin.

Whether you Wear makeup OR NOT:

1. CLEANSE: 1st Cleanse with an oil-based cleanser: (I use a balm cleanser) from Farmacy. The Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm.

2. CLEANSE: 2nd cleanse with a chemical exfoliant: (I use Holifrog

Shasta AHA Refining Acid Wash) Paraben-Free, Sulfate-Free, Certified Cruelty-Free, Fragrance-Free

Note: In the morning, I just splash lukewarm water, and use a super soft micro-fiber cloth.

I think the natural oils and products I put on the night before, shouldn't be stripped away.

At night, after a long day, I do the double-cleanse because that's when you want to super deep clean your skin before bed. Of course, if you feel sweaty, or like you really should clean your skin in the morning, try to just use a very gentle cleanser such as {FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser, or BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel (JUST DON'T OVERDUE IT WITH THE Squalane, or any one product). or DRUNK ELEPHANT Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. Or REN CLEAN SKINCARE Rosa Centifolia™ No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm.}

3. SERUM: Vitamin C Serum/Retinol/Retinoid Serum: ( I switch between a Vitamin C Serum by Elephant right now- not my fav, very drying - and Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol.

Phyto-Retinol is a great way to introduce yourself to Retinol, but this is a plant-derived one that is natural, and more gentle.

4. MOISTURIZER: I use two moisturizers because I have combination skin: ( I use Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream and La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care

5. SUNSCREEN: I hope you are wearing sunscreen every day, and if you are going to be outside quite a bit, definitely reapply!

I don't wear makeup, and I don't mind a whitewash because it does go away, so I use: (Farmacy Green Defense Daily Mineral Sunscreen) Mineral Sunscreens do tend to block more of the rays from the sun/atmosphere, but they whitewash, so people tend to go for traditional Sunscreens.

The big thing.. Moisturizer and Sunscreen should be separate.

Its just one more step, but the SPF in the moisturizer, just isn't strong enough to really help you.
